Sri Lanka v New Zealand - match abandoned
First One-Day International, Pallekele

The first One-Day International between Sri Lanka and New Zealand was abandoned without a ball being bowled in Pallekele.

Persistent rain in the area prevented the match from getting underway and no attempt to even hold a coin toss was made such were the conditions.

The no-result means that just 16 overs of play have been possible on the tour so far after the Twenty20 International was also abandoned.

The second ODI is scheduled to be played in Colombo on 4th November and both sides will be hoping that a shift in venue coincides with an upturn in the weather.
