Nottinghamshire's Young Player Of The Year Jake Ball has another reason to celebrate after signing a one-year contract extension at Trent Bridge.

The 21-year-old is a nephew of former Nottinghamshire wicket-keeper Bruce French and the pace bowler is looking forward to the opportunity to continue his development.

"I felt more comfortable in the CB40 last season and I want to ensure that I do myself justice next season," he said.

"I’m generating more pace and I feel that I have enough control to impress during pre-season and force my way into Mick’s (Newell) selection."

Sussex have a recent tradition of producing fine wicket-keepers and one of the latest off that conveyer belt, Ben Brown, has signed a two-year contract extension.

Following in the footsteps of Tim Ambrose, Matthew Prior and Andrew Hodd, Brown is set to remain at Hove until at least the end of the 2014 season.

The 23-year-old played 14 first-class matches in 2012 as well as 10 CB40 and five T20 games.

"I'm really privileged to have signed for my home County for the next two years," he said.

"I’m determined to be a major part of the club’s future and I’m also hopeful that I can help us to win trophies across the next couple of seasons."

Captain Ed Joyce added: "Ben has become an integral member of the side over the last couple of seasons.

"He's a hugely talented and hard-working cricketer and the improvements he made to his all round game this year reflect that. He was also a huge help to me tactically on the field since I took over the captaincy."

Warwickshire have handed new deals to all-rounder Steffan Piolet and fast bowler Tom Milnes. Piolet, 24, has signed a two-year deal with 21-year-old Milnes signing for three more years.

Piolet first played for the Bears in 2009 and has since become a key member of Warwickshire's limited overs squads while Milnes has been associated with the club since the age of 10.

He made his first-class debut earlier this year and featured in the title-winning match at New Road in Worcester.

"Both Steff and Tom are good athletes, great team men and as young players have excellent potential to play a key role in the team for many years to come," assistant coach Dougie Brown said.

"Steffan has put in some excellent performances in limited overs competitions and was one of our best bowlers in last season’s Friends Life t20 with an economy rate of just a shade above a run-a-ball. Whilst being an excellent death bowler and hard hitting batsmen, there is a great opportunity for him to develop his game further over the coming months and try to force his way in to the LV County Championship side.

"Having been with the Club since the age of 10, Tom is Warwickshire through and through and everyone was really pleased for him to make his LV County Championship debut earlier this season. He’s worked incredibly hard to become a key member of our seam attack and is certainly an exciting prospect to follow in the years ahead."
